Disability Income Insurance

What would happen to your income if you were temporarily or permanently unable to work due to illness or an accident?

Disability Income Insurance provides financial protection if you become unable to work. If an illness or accident prevents you from working fully or partially, you receive a pre-agreed benefit. This benefit is paid for each day you are considered disabled, in accordance with the terms and conditions of your policy.

When taking out the insurance, you determine, among other things, the benefit amount and the waiting period. The waiting period is the period after you become disabled during which no benefit is paid.

Who is Disability Income Insurance for?

Disability Income Insurance is particularly relevant for:

  • Professionals in salaried employment with an income above the SVB income threshold

  • Self-employed individuals and independent professionals

  • Company directors and statutory directors

Choose the coverage that suits you

Your personal and financial situation determines how much protection you need. When arranging your insurance, you can consider the following:

The benefit amount
How much income would you need if you were unable to work? You could, for example, choose a benefit equivalent to approximately 80% of your average income, or opt for a lower amount if that is sufficient for your financial situation.

The waiting period
Do you have sufficient savings or financial reserves to cover your expenses during the initial period of disability? If so, you may choose a longer waiting period. This can affect the premium you pay.

The premium
The premium depends on various factors, including your age, occupation, selected coverage and waiting period. Under certain conditions, the premium may be tax-deductible.

Protect your income

Your income is one of your most important financial resources. If you become unable to work, however, your regular expenses and financial commitments may continue.

Disability Income Insurance helps ensure that you continue to have an income if illness or an accident prevents you from working fully or partially.
